Ted Cruz standing room only crowd in Knoxville

The Take Off with Ted Tour started today at Farragut High School. WBIR reported over 1500 people in attendance. I think they estimated low.

Here is a long line waiting outside Farragut High School.

Here is a panoramic view of the crowd awaiting Ted.

Here is a shot of Ted  shortly after he arrived at FHS.

Here is Cruz's speech, beginning to end, uncut. You won't find this in the soundbites from the media.

Ted is a Constitutional Conservative, and is gaining in the polls. I think he has a good chance of winning.

He is worth your support.

The Triad and the Donald

I spent many hours riding around from one missile site to another back in the seventies. I was in the USAF, stationed at F. E. Warren AFB, WY. Our goal was to keep as many missiles in the green, or ready to launch, as possible.

We were part of the triad, a three pronged nuclear spear:

Presidential election, 2016

I have stayed mostly silent, because this far out, it's anybody's guess.

I definitely plan to vote for Cruz if he is still in the race during the primary.

In the general election, I don't see how I could vote for any of the socialist/statist candidates on the Democratic side.

That leaves me with the Republican candidate.

I hope it will not be another of those "hold your nose and vote" situations.

Never forget, Clinton likes the Australian method of gun control.

Economic systems

There are three economic systems* in the world:

Socialism - Fascism - Capitalism

On the left, we have socialism, which means the State owns and controls the means of production.
The extreme form of socialism is communism, socialists who force compliance at the point of a gun.

On the right is capitalism, in which the private sector owns and controls the means of production.

In the middle is fascism, where the private sector owns and the State controls the means of production.
----
The United States is usually thought of as a capitalist nation. Yet, since the 1930's we have had fascism on the farm.

KNOXVILLE indicating it will IGNORE state law - URGENT CALL TO ACTION!

September 10, 2015

URGENT CALL TO ACTION!
KNOXVILLE indicating it will IGNORE state law that allows handgun permit holders to carry in public parks!

The Tennessee Valley Fair has notified the public that the fair is posted, stating on page two of their Fair Guidebook: "Please note: no weapons of any kind are permitted at Chilhowee Park. All entrants are subject to search. . ."

Chilhowee Park is owned by the City of Knoxville.  State of Tennessee now prohibits by law the City from regulating the possession of firearms in local parks based on a law passed in 2015 that is now in effect.

The Tennessee Attorney General issued a formal opinion concluding that a local government may not ban handgun permit holders from carrying their handguns in the public parks (with a limited exception that is not relevant to the fair).  Further, the AG concluded that the state law now prohibits an event that rents or uses the public park from banning firearms in the park.

Harbor Freight vs Ruby Tuesday

Last Week, Ruby Tuesday's CEO J. J. Buettgen , in a report to shareholders, said, "We're trying to find the most effective and efficient ways to get out and re-attract the families-with-kids segment, which was by far the single largest segment that we lost guest counts with when we repositioned the brand to be more upscale."

The Knoxville News-Sentinel carried the report.

On the other hand -------

I went to Harbor Freight today to buy a few things. Business was booming.

Mr. Buettgen, methinks that providing quality product at a reasonable price would have people waiting in line at Ruby's.

Lots of folks haven't gotten over your upscale repositioning some years ago. Memories run long.

I hope you are successful and turn thing around.

A preview of the rapture of the Church

Many Christians (including myself) believe that the rapture* of the Church will usher in a period of unprecedented lawlessness.

Recent murders in Baltimore give, perhaps, a hint of what that will be like. The Holy Spirit of God dwells in His people specifically and in world generally. In somewhat of a parallel, the police are among us, restraining, by their very presence, many evil actions.

In Baltimore, we hear the police have effectively withdrawn from the scene. Good citizens have been disarmed by decades of Democratic politicians. The result: a current state of general lawlessness.

When the Holy Spirit withdraws concurrent with the rapture of the Church, those left behind can expect to see Baltimore cubed.

Will you be among those that leave, or among those that live in that utter chaos?

Old Glory flies again in View Harbor Subdivision

Tomorrow, April 19, we celebrate Patriots' Day the beginning of the American Revolution. Redcoats marched on Lexington and Concord, Massachusettes, commencing hostilities that ended in the foundation of the United States. Project Appleseed has a tremendous combination of related history telling and markmanship training. Check it out.

It is fitting that today, April 18, on the eve of Patriots' day, Veteran Delia Foster raised the flag again in her front yard. I was there when she was taken down. I wish I had been there today.

Congratulations Delia!

Tennessee Parking lot law improved

WBIR reports that the Governor Haslam has signed the bill to improve the parking lot law, better stated as the

Safe Commute Law

This law partially fixes the previous law, which (mostly) removed criminal liability for having a gun locked in a vehicle in an employer's parking lot. Now, the law provides some legal remedy for employees fired for this act.

Really, why would these bigwigs want their employees working second shift to be disarmed on that midnight commute home?

Now, hear this:
If an employer really wants to fire you, he can build a dossier of your mistakes (you're only human), and out you go.

Parks Carry Bill back to Senate

The poison pill amendment added by the Tennessee Senate was rejected by the House:

ON APRIL 1, 2015, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 995 FOR SENATE BILL 1171, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #2, AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 995, AS AMENDED.

AMENDMENT #2 adds that handgun carry permit holders may not be prohibited from carrying a handgun on the grounds of the state capitol or the surrounding capitol complex.

ON APRIL 6, 2015, THE HOUSE NON-CONCURRED IN SENATE AMENDMENT #2.

Now, what will the Senate do?

Basic Christianity, For People Who Don’t Like Christians

From The Virtual Militia:

Good morning to people who do not like Christians:
Today is Easter Sunday. As Muslims conduct search-and-destroy operations against Christians, and as progressive Americans ramp up anti-Christian rage, I am going to do something different with this blog post. This post is written specifically to those who harbor either whether rabid hatred or smoldering dislike against people who call themselves Christians. This post is not written to convince anyone of anything. It is written to state exactly what the Christian faith is. So, if you think the notion of some sort of Christian God is ridiculous superstition, then this post is for you. You may read here and see exactly what it is you think is so absurd. Here is a concise, informational description of what Christians actually believe: CONTINUE TO READ @ VIRTUAL MILITIA HERE.

Former Maryland Trooper notes that he was wrong regarding handgun permits

I saw this first at Bearing Arms. The gentleman makes a Fonzie statement at 2:13 in, "I was wrong."

He was a Maryland State Trooper, in charge of their may-issue permitting system. Maryland has made life so difficult for gun owners that Beretta decided to leave the state.

The whole idea of having to prove your need to provide for your own defense is absurd. Self defense is a natural right, and politicians have long stepped over the bounds of human decency, removing, particularly from those who are not well-connected, the means of self defense.

The problem with Common Core

Dr. Mike Carlson takes a look at Common Core, and finds it lacking:

The problem with a helping of Federal funding is that it is always served with a side of Federal control.

Remember the double-nickel speed limit imposed by the states? The Feds did not have the power to "require" the states to impose the speed limit. But, they did use the coercive force of the purse strings to "gently persuade" the states to get in line.

I still recall vividly the tenth of June, 1976, while travelling the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the speed limit, being passed by a limo with government plates. I would guess that the limo was running at about 75 or 80.

I bet those behind imposing these CC standards almost exclusively send their children to private schools.

Rules for thee, but not for me. . .

Post 1986 machinegun ban illegal?

Long story short. In 1934, a $200 transfer tax was imposed on purchases of machineguns. Sales of newly manufactured machineguns were banned in 1986.

Can the government show that one can be denied the unalienable right to such a militia firearm?
Can the law pass the strict scrutiny test? I think not.

odeur de Bloomberg

Examiner David Codrea reports on an Illinois Bill introduction that has the odeur de Bloomberg all over it.

This draconian bill was introduced by Democrat State Senator Jacqueline Y. Collins (not that Jackie Collins).

From her bio:
In 1984, she served as press liaison for the Rev. Jesse Jackson during the Democratic National Convention . . . .  and also had the distinction of serving as a 2001 Legislative Fellow for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington, D.C.
So, this bill, coming from one associated with the 1994 gun ban cabal, should come as no surprise.

No hate crime charges against George Zimmerman

Turns out the Obama Administration's DOJ was not able to gin up find any evidence with which to charge Zimmerman with a hate crime.

I guess not. The evidence at trial clearly showed that Zimmerman was on the brink of having his skull turned into a bowl of mush. Further commentary at Examiner HERE.

Race Relations and Law Enforcement

Reprinted by permission from IMPRIMUS, a publication of Hillsdale College.

Jason L. Riley
Editorial Board Member, Wall Street Journal

Jason L. Riley on Race Relations and Law EnforcementJason L. Riley is an editorial board member and a senior editorial page writer at the Wall Street Journal, where he writes on politics, economics, education, immigration, and race. He is also a FOX News contributor and appears regularly on Special Report with Bret Baier. Previously, he worked for USA Today and the Buffalo News. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is the author of Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make It Harder for Blacks to Succeed.

The following is adapted from a speech delivered on January 30, 2015, at Hillsdale College’s Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C., as part of the AWC Family Foundation Lecture Series.
Thomas Sowell once said that some books you write for pleasure, and others you write out of a sense of duty, because there are things to be said—and other people have better sense than to say them. My new book, Please Stop Helping Us, falls into that latter category. When I started out as a journalist 20 years ago, I had no expectation of focusing on race-related topics. People like Sowell and Shelby Steele and Walter Williams and a few other independent black thinkers, to my mind at least, had already said what needed to be said, had been saying it for decades, and had been saying it more eloquently than I ever could. But over the years, and with some prodding from those guys, it occurred to me that not enough younger blacks were following in their footsteps. It also occurred to me that many public policies aimed at the black underclass were just as wrongheaded as ever. The fight wasn’t over. A new generation of black thinkers needed to explain what’s working and what isn’t, and why, to a new generation of readers. And the result is this book, which I hope will help to bring more light than heat to the discussion of race.
The book is not an autobiography or a memoir, but I do tell a few stories about growing up black and male in the inner city. And one of the stories involves a trip back home to Buffalo, New York, where I was born and raised. I was visiting my older sister shortly after I had begun working at the Wall Street Journal, and I was chatting with her daughter, my niece, who was maybe in the second grade at the time. I was asking her about school, her favorite subjects, that sort of thing, when she stopped me and said, “Uncle Jason, why you talk white?” Then she turned to her little friend who was there and said, “Don’t my uncle sound white? Why he tryin’ to sound so smart?”

If you can't ban guns, try ammo . . .

. . . starve those AR-15's to death.

The predictable result will be shortages and higher prices on ammo, assymetrically affecting lower-income citizens' ability to buy effective defensive rifle ammo.

JPFO Update (reprinted with permission)

An Update On
Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership

From the passing of Aaron Zelman in December 2010 to its Adoption
by the Second Amendment Foundation in September 2014

by Alan Korwin
with guidance from
Rabbinic Director Dovid Bendory
former Executive Director Charles Heller
former Board of Directors officer Bob Meier
When Aaron Zelman left this world on December 21, 2010, after 21 years as the founder and mastermind behind Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, he left the world a significant ideological legacy.
JPFO was Aaron’s invention and creation, and like similar constructs, it reflected him uniquely from top to bottom. There was no other Moses figure to step in and take over. He had put his people on the path out of an iron bondage of mental oppression, a firearm slavery that took social, psychological and physical forms.
JPFO served a function matched by no other group in the freedom struggle, mobilizing a constituency that up to that point lacked voice. Oddly enough, it resonated as loudly with Gentiles as with Jews, a point that surprised Aaron but one he took in stride. He happily accepted any support in the quintessential battle that would never again allow government—or anyone—to attempt to wipe out His People—or anyone.

U.S. Flag being forced down in View Harbor Subdivision

Today, at 3 pm in View Harbor Subdivision in West Knox County, an Air Force veteran is being forced to quit flying the Stars and Stripes by the petty potentates of her HOA. The address is:

If yo can spare a few minutes on this busy Valentine's day, come out and show support for Delia Foster, a 24-year Air Force veteran, as she strikes the colors with the help of the American Legion.

The story was reported by Channel 10 and Channel 8 last night:

The Congress and the Tennessee Legislature should act on this clear freedom of expression issue. Any lout is Constitutionally protected if he wants to burn Old Glory, but someone who signed a contract to give her all, up to and including her very life; then gave 24 years for her, can't fly Old Glory!

Tennessee 2015 Guns in Parks bill gets media attention

WBIR-TV interviewed Mayor Ralph McGill and me on the issue. McGill feels he must maintain control of citizens who:

  • Have no history of mental illness, aclohol or drug addiction
  • Have passed an FBI background check, with fingerprints on file with the FBI
  • Have passed mandatory training in firearms usage and applicable law

Yet Farragut does not provide any semblance of security at Farragut parks, or along greenways. Felons are free to come and go as they please.

POTUS has heard the truth

Yesterday, Darrel Waltrip was the keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast. In attendance were POTUS, FLOTUS, the Daila Lama, and other dignitaries.

Waltrip gave an excellent address, in which he claimed the exclusivity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Consider Jesus's claim, and Waltrip's statement. If true, they are true to the exclusion of all other roads to salvation.

The answer is

- and remember the banners, unlike Goldilocks, can never find a gun that is just right!

  1. This gun is too accurate (deer gun, target rifle)
  2. This gun is too big (fiddy cal)
  3. This gun is too small (Satiddy night special)
  4. This gun holds too many bullets (AR-15, Glock 17)
  5. This gun is painted with camouflage. (with lead-free paint)
  6. This gun has a pistol grip.
  7. This gun has a flash suppressor.
  8. This gun has a bayonet lug.
