Farragut Town Hall workshop

I was unable to attend because of work, but it was reported by a friend that only one person spoke in favor of continuing the ban.

Alderman Bob Markli made a good point as reported in the Knoxville News-Sentinel concerning surveys done by the Parks and Recreation Department, "Surveys are nice but our rights are not subject to a popularity contest."

Alderman Jeff Elliott wants to continue the ban for "safety reasons." Some people just don't get it. They would rather keep you unarmed and helpless. Some of them prefer that . . . and maintain the philosophy, "if I just look straight ahead and whistle a happy tune, nothing will happen to me."

Farragut guns in parks - call to action

Dear friends,

I am forwarding the following email from Bob Markli, a Town of Farragut Alderman. Your help is needed to show the other aldermen and mayor that there are many of us who support the right to meaningful self defense, which should not stop at the boundaries of the parks our taxes pay for.

Please plan to attend the workshop this Thursday. Please forward this to all of like mind. You don't have to be a resident of Farragut to attend.

Fellow citizens,

Thanks to your efforts in writing your elected officials, a workshop is scheduled for a discussion on rescinding the current ban on lawful carry permit holders exercise of their constitutional and lawful right in the Town of Farragut parks that our tax dollars support. This workshop will occur from 6:00PM until 6:55PM just before the regular Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on this Thursday, September 26. The meeting will be open to the public.

I am encouraging each of you to commit yourselves to being in that audience and to encourage as many of your friends and family as possible to be there as well to show support for this common sense correction of a poor decision made in 2009 by the Board. Because of the media propaganda surrounding second amendment issues, many elected officials mistakenly believe pro-liberty issues are politically unpopular. Let's help them see that a tiny, pathetic, insignificant and misguided minority cannot dictate policy against the liberties of free Americans.

Yours for liberty,
Bob Markli

Registration = confiscation

Suppose you hold an anti-gun rally, and no one shows up (except the opposition)?

Thanks John Lott.
